Roroa in the Rotoiti Nature Recovery Project (RNRP) are protected by the work of the Department of Conservation and a group of volunteers named the Friends of Rotoiti (FOR). It's an excellent example of a successful collaboration involving the government and a local community. The work that FOR does to protect roroa includes controlling rats, stoats, possums and feral cats by setting traps and monitoring for pest presence.

It also monitors kiwi and other native animals such as kaka, lizards and robin populations in the RNRP territory. 2oz silver coin with black proof and gold plating finish. Minted from 0.999 silver. Low worldwide limited mintage of 250.
